The interesting feature of this temple is the chedi (pagoda) with the lotus shape summit which is the only Sukhothai era style pagoda found in Phitsanulok. The base is 9 meters and 21 meters in height and is assumed to have been built in the reign of King Thammaracha the First (Praya Lithai) when he was ruling Phitsanulok. The temple has been renovated throughout the times from Sukhothai, Ayuthaya and Bangkok.

Wat Chedi Yod Thong is situated outside the city walls of Phitsanulok on the east bank 1 km. away on Phya Sua road, Nai Muang Sub-district, Muang District, Phitsanulok Province. Inside the temple is a chedi (pagoda) with a lotus shape summit, which after renovations by the Fine Arts Department, the base is 13.08 meters and 22.70 meters in height. The vihara (chapel) is of mortar at a length of 25 meters, 10 meters in width, base height 30 meters. The moat around the temple is 90-100 meters long but the northern canal is dried up and the southern canal has been converted into a fish pond of the temple. The east and west canal was filled up during the temple’s renovation.
Wat Chedi Thong was renovated in 1969 partially on the pagoda with the lotus shape summit. The artistic style and layout of the temple with a moat was popular during the Sukhothai era as can be seen at Wat Mahathat, Wat Srichum, Wat Trapang Thong, Wat Sra Sri Muang Sukhothai.
