Situated in Nai Muang Sub-district, Muang District, Phitsanulok Province, southeast of Wat Prasriratanamahathat Woramahaviharn (Wat Yai) Temple and opposite Wat Nang Phya Temple. The Mitraparp Highway is in the middle separating the two temples. An interesting structure in the temple is the chapel adorned with very graceful three-headed nagas on the corners of every tier of the roofs.

The origin of the name “Wat Ratchaburana” was assumed that it was due to the fact that after being constructed during the Sukhothai era the renovation was carried out for the first time in the reign of Praya Lithai and hence the name “Ratchaburana” (royal renovation) until the present time. Another interesting structure in the temple is the main Buddha statue which is in the Sukhothai style. Apart from this, the wall murals in the chapel are from the Ramakien epic drawn in the reign of H.M. King Rama IV of Bangkok and believed to be the work of local artists in that era.
